Every dataset has a story to tell. Sometimes it just needs a good storyteller.

My name is Kelly Jones and I am a data scientist based in Seattle, Washington. I enjoy using statistical analysis and machine learning to turn complex data into clear recommendations, especially through visualization. I am known for sharp technical skills and engaging communication.

My path to data science was jump-started by spending four years as the Data Officer at a local nonprofit, Eastside Pathways, and seeing the power of analytic tools like Tableau to accelerate the pace of our work. What more was out there, I wondered? The field of data science had many, many answers. I earned a Certificate of Data Science in 2018 from Metis and have focused on product analytics in my full-time data science roles since then. My experience includes startups and long-established SaaS companies. I am continuously building on this foundation with new techniques and projects. Some are individual passion projects driven by my curiosity and interests. As time permits, I also take on paid and pro bono consulting projects when the fit is right.

I bring a diverse set of experiences to this field, having been a classroom teacher in the borderlands of south Texas before earning a Master of Public Policy degree at Vanderbilt. I also taught Data Analytics for a sustainability-focused MBA program for several years. In my spare time, I am an avid reader and writer, a lively wedding officiant, and a mostly competent do-it-yourselfer with a growing collection of power tools.
